Le Poodle Parlor

I made these tiny gouache and colored pencil pooches around 1996. They were sort of inspired by the porcelain figurines my mother used to collect. I wanted to make something pretty that a sophisticated poodle fancier would hang in his boudoir.

Nowadays pup play is mainstream but back then it was unheard of. The only photo references I had were few grainy pics of a leatherman eating out of a dog bowl.
